To immortalize the name of a loved one or loved ones, at the same time you invest in the future of Heimwald Park.
At the suggestion of Mrs. Bonnie J. Glotfelty, Lakeland, Florida, in 1991the Casper Glattfelder Association of America began a brick patio project at Heimwald Park. The patio is located at the east end of the pavilion. As the need arises, it will be extended to the north and south sides.
Inscribed bricks are arranged according to the place each person named occupies in the family. From left to right, from the oldest son of Casper to the youngest, the headings are Solomon, Felix, John, Henry, Michael, and the younger Casper. There are also headings for Casper's brother John Peter and for friends of the family. Within each heading, inscribed bricks are arranged by families, not in alphabetical order. For example, if someone purchases four bricks, one for self, one for spouse, and two for parents, they will be placed
together and close to those of any related family members for whom bricks have already been purchased.
The brick patio project has two purposes. First, it enables one to honor or memorialize family members near the place where the immigrant family and its close friends lived for many years. Here in the "home woods" family reunions have been held since 1913. Second, the project is intended to help the association financially as it carries out its several programs. Net proceeds from the sale of bricks become part of our endowment, the income from which is used in support of those programs.
Brick orders may be placed at any time during the year. All orders on hand at a date in late April, which is announced in the spring association newsletter, are then processed and the inscribed bricks are place on the patio in time for the next reunion.
On reunion day 1999, there were 598 inscribed bricks on the patio.
We invite you to participate in this program by completing the order form and returning it with your contribution. Each brick will be limited to one name, three lines, 12 characters per line. For example:
